Baking my first chocolate cake
I love chocolate cake. It’s a good thing that my mom is a star baker and it is one of her specialties. What I love most about her cake is the chocolate icing. It is so rich, thick, with just the right amount of sweetness. I attempted to bake one on my own and fortunately, she was glad to teach me and divulge her recipe. She told me to prepare powdered cocoa, butter, and condensed milk. Then we studied the baking lesson.
We mixed three tablespoons of cocoa with just the right amount of water. Then we mixed the butter, dissolved cocoa, and the condensed milk in a pan. We mixed and mixed until the icing became thick and has the right consistency. I tasted it and it was so yummy! I had to keep myself from eating a lot of icing, or we wouldn’t have anything left over to put on the cake.
The funny thing was we only used a ready to bake Devil’s food cake that time. We baked two batches in two separate pans. We coated the first cake with icing and put the other one on top. Then we coated the entire two layers with chocolate icing. We had a great time baking and eating our chocolate-filled Devil’s food cake. Yum!
